Small Fry Dance Club and Principal Creative & Preforming Arts is hiring dance teachers!
ABOUT US
SFDC and PCPA are one school separated into two programs. Our school has been in business for over 10 years. Small Fry teaches on-site and studio dance classes to preschool and school age students. Dancers range in age from 1 1/2 – 5. Principal Arts is our more traditional studio program for ages 5 and up. PCPA offers a variety of styles including ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary.
QUALIFICATIONS
SFDC CLASSES – Dance, teaching, and early childhood education experience are required. Combination of all 3 works very well. Degrees in child development, early childhood education, or psychology work well for this program. Back ground should include training in multiple disciplines. Classes include curriculum in basic tap, jazz, ballet, creative movement, and yoga. Instructors must have reliable transportation. CPR/first aid training is a plus. Early childhood education units are required at some participating preschools.
PCPA CLASSES – Dance degree is weighted heavily for the educational setting. Although extensive teaching experience with children will be considered. Teachers should have reliable transportation, be organized, and self-sufficient.
Finding a teacher that can cover a wide range of age groups is ideal for our structure and will allow us to fill your schedule as well. Candidates that can cover both programs and are willing to add office/admin duties can potentially fill an 8 hour day.
OPENINGS
Our PCPA program needs hip hop, and ballet instructors. Although candidates of other backgrounds in dance are encouraged to apply. Classes are held in our studio in San Mateo. SFDC classes are held both in our studio and at locations across the Peninsula and South Bay with potential for new locations being added in the future. Most classes run year round. (No Summer Break)
COMPENSATION
Competitive rates, based upon experience. $25 – $35 per hour for teaching hours. In house training program for Small Fry preschool classes included. All candidates must complete background checks, training, and probationary period before being officially employed. This is not a contract position. (NO 1099)
ADDITIONAL NOTES
We need a powerhouse dance-lover who can challenge the intermediate students but also equally appreciate the beginning stages. We do have a high percentage of beginners and youngsters that are growing with the program.
Professionalism with students, teaching team, and parents is a must.
Professional performance and teaching work accepted and weighted equivalent to educational units.
